Happy Halloween! In honor of the holiday, I took some liberties with our template.

Notes from the Executive Director
Good morning NEAUC Board Members! Did you know last week was National Pumpkin Day? To honor of this very special occasion, I went home to Ohio last weekend for a family reunion and local event in Circleville called “The Pumpkin Show.”. It’s a century-old celebration of all things pumpkin and local farmers compete to grow the largest gourd. The winner this year weighed in at 1,553 pounds. That’s a LOT of pumpkin. Here’s a photo of the giant pumpkins from my adventures at the Circleville Pumpkin Show:
A few additional messages/notes/updates/reminders to start your week:
This month, I have had several opportunities to promote NEUAC and make in-roads with partners. Earlier this month, I met with Chris Hickling, Brian Caudill and around 30 advocates from EEI and AGA to re-introduce NEUAC and take their questions/suggestions. We talked a great deal about Action Day and how to use it as a platform to amplify our message of advocacy for low-income families. It was a great conversation and a good way to grow our partnership. More information about LIHEAP Action Day below…keep scrolling!
Mark Wolfe and John Harvanko from NEADA invited me to say a few words on their most recent board call. They also plan to bring a friend from Wisconsin to the December Board Meeting – Barb Klug. We welcome the partnership with our friends at NEADA!
I also was lucky enough to meet last week with Elizabeth Chant, Principal Consultant with Vermont Energy Investment Corporation, while she was in DC. Great to see you and learn more about VEIC, Elizabeth!
The lovely Kelly Caplan thinks of me often and has invited me to several Washington Gas or related functions. I am always happy to attend, speak, and/or meet with our members and their own professional groups. I will take any chance to talk about NEUAC and how important energy policy advocacy is for vulnerable families!
Please continue to think of me when you are in town – I can arrange a time to see the NEUAC office if you’d like, and show you around our new digs in Arlington! Come see me in DC – which segues nicely into our next item …
We need you to help fill the hotel room block, please! Only a handful of people have booked their room at this point – book your rooms and register today!
The details for the December Board Meeting are online at the NEUAC website on the calendar page: https://neuac.wpengine.com/events-calendar/ Please go there for information, hotel details, and to register, which will give us an accurate meal count. Might as well do it now while you are thinking of it. J

New this year: As discussed at our last board meeting, membership is HALF PRICE for first-time NEUAC member organizations. For non-profits, membership costs are based on size of the annual operating budget. Also, the cost of membership is included in all sponsorship packages. We want membership in NEUAC to be accessible for all, and we want your support to continue to fight energy poverty.
NEUAC welcomes 2017 sponsors to support our work at LIHEAP Action Day and the annual conference. For your convenience, you may download our electronically fillable form, also attached, and return to us by mail. Alternatively, you may donate online by credit card or E-Check/ACH.
