Notes from the Executive Director

The election is over and President-Elect Trump is already making staff appointments. I am attending two policy briefings by the Campaign for Home Energy Assistance and the Coalition on Human Needs, and meeting with Mark Wolfe of NEADA to ensure our advocacy efforts remain focused and consistent. I will report out on these meetings in the next PP&A Committee phone call.

NEUAC will continue to present the case for energy equality in such a way that everyone sees the benefit and understands the importance. LIHEAP enjoys support from both sides of the aisle, and NEUAC will continue to advocate in such a way that everyone feels welcome and understands the importance of utility assistance. So while much has changed, we remain focused on education and advocacy. We are planning for a successful LIHEAP Action Day on February 15 and need your support. I hope you all consider attending and supporting your LIHEAP partners during this time of change.

A few additional messages/notes/updates/reminders to start your week:

December Board Meeting – DC

There are still rooms available if anyone needs one, even though it is past the deadline. I have added to the agenda – we will be reviewing the website and demonstrating some of the new features, and also getting your feedback on future website developments. Also, we will be discussing LIHEAP Action Day preparation and appointment of state team leads as well as regional discussion groups. There is much activity happening at NEUAC – hope you are as excited as I am!

Membership

The 2017 membership drive is underway and will last until 3/31/17 for membership in the organization for calendar year 2017. To renew your membership, go here: https://neuac.wpengine.com/membership/. You also may complete the fillable PDF and submit your check by mail. Invoices will be sent when you renew, and also will be sent to all current members who have not yet renewed in December with a reminder.

Social Media Updates

NEW TWITTER HASHTAG: NEUAC developed a new hashtag to improve communication for our fuel fund members. Use #FuelFunds to mark posts and make them easily searchable by other fuel funds like yours when news or information is particularly relevant. It’s a good way to quickly find and share information with your cohorts!

NEWS: Twitter Feed on www.neuac.org! Our Twitter feed will now show up on the homepage of the NEUAC website. This also is a good way to quickly see what is happening in NEUAC, legislative updates, and other utility and energy efficiency news.
