Executive Director
Welcome to our newest staff person here at NEUAC, Erica Lambert! Erica comes to NEUAC thanks to a partnership with the Fuel Fund of Maryland. Erica has extensive experience with data management and non-profit management, and currently acts as the Stewardship Manager at the Fuel Fund of Maryland. She will be helping part-time with administrative tasks and general support for the organization. You can meet Erica at the conference next month, which she will attend and assist with the conference application, among other things. Please make her feel welcome – we are lucky to have her talent at NEUAC!
NEUAC Governing Board and Executive Committee Nominations/Elections
The ballots are being counted for the 10 open positions (seven non-profit and three corporate/utility) for the NEUAC Governing Board. Nominations also have been accepted for the Executive Committee. Results will be announced at the Membership Meeting in June at the Annual Conference. Thank you to all who made and received nominations, and all those who voted!
Senators Susan Collins (Maine) and Jack Reed (Rhode Island) are circulating a letter to the Appropriations Committee supporting LIHEAP in the FY18 Labor-HHS Appropriations Bill. You can view a copy of this letter here: Senate Dear Colleague Letter.
The President proposed eliminating LIHEAP in his budget, so a good result is critical this year.
If you have not already done so, please contact your Senators and encourage them to sign the Dear Colleague Letter. To find your Senators, you can use NEUAC’s Congressional Lookup Tool. If your Senator has questions, contact Dylan Leazes Dylan_Leazes@reed.
The All-Parties Letter for LIHEAP has closed with more than 1,200 signatures. This represents approximately a 40% increase from last year. Additionally, 466 individuals have written 1,441 letters to 203 members of Congress – spectacular work, advocates!
NEUAC Awards – Still accepting nominations!
There is still time to nominate a friend or coworker for outstanding leadership and contributions NEUAC’s mission to increase public awareness of low-income energy problems, advance energy assistance policy and promote charitable energy assistance. Nominations are being accepted until Wednesday, May 10 for the following three awards:

More information and descriptions for each award can be found on the ballot. Access the ballot here for the 2017 awards.
