From the Desk of the

Executive Director

Here in Virginia, everything is blooming – including NEUAC.

I am so encouraged by the increases we are seeing in membership and the wave of interest in this organization. I realize we are facing tremendous challenges; but with this level of support, we can do anything.

PS: These are the tulips my lovely husband brought me for our table.

NEUAC Governance Board Elections

Nominations are in for NEUAC’s Governance Board – and the response was terrific from energy leaders across the country who participate in NEUAC.

A ballot will be sent later today asking members in good standing to vote for a total of seven members to the existing Governance Board. That will bring our board structure to 28 members, all dedicated to NEUAC’s mission and willing to lead the way.

Ballots will be collected via Survey Monkey and must be completed by this Friday, April 28. Good luck nominees!

Public Policy and Advocacy

The Senate Dear Colleague letter is expected to be released soon now that Congress has returned from the recess, and we will enlist the help of state team leaders to spread the word and gather support. We have four legislative days until the 2017 Continuing Resolution expires. Our hopes are for the passing of an omnibus that includes the Labor HHS bill and protects or increases LIHEAP. We will keep you informed.

NEUAC Annual Conference

There are so many exciting things happening with the conference that it’s difficult to know where to begin…

§  The conference will kick off with author and mentoring advocate Vaughn McCoy, who will inspire us to lead with both conviction and compassion.

§  Plenary Speaker Jean Block promises to show us how to put the FUN into FUNdraising.

§  The tracks are loaded with relevant and timely training sessions, including information on LIHEAP policy and advocacy, data and research on energy efficiency, addressing vulnerable populations, and so much more.

§  Our evening event will be a cocktail party with live music – we are so excited to welcome everyone to our spectacular conference in Florida.

This year the auction theme is Tropical Oasis and we need you to participate by donating items that are tropical and fun, beach themed, items indigenous to Florida, etc. Email Tanya Brothers if you have questions or for more information: Tanya.Brothers@heartshare.org

Register for the conference here: https://neuac.wpengine.com/event/2017-annual-conference/

Make your room reservations soon before the block fills!
